    Still Wearing Party Hats...

...And most likely will be for quite some time.  Apparently you can eat more food, pick up more toys, and be more well behaved when you're wearing one.  And why not?  Don't you always feel better when you're in a party mood?  I think I may start wearing one around the house; it may motivate me to get more housework done.  Heck, I may start wearing them out in public, too.  Tell me that if you were working the register in Walmart you wouldn't try your darndest to get the crazy lady wearing a Baby Einstein party hat at a saucy angle out of the store as quickly as possible!

Today was such a lazy day (see, no party hat = no housework done).  I just couldn't get my motor going.  I did go running this morning, but that had more to do with the massive amounts of cake, ice cream, and pizza I ate over the weekend, and the fact that after weeks of losing weight consistently I stepped on the scale Sunday morning to find I had gained 3 lbs. back, than with actually feeling like doing it.  Guilt is great at making you do things you don't want to do.  I'm really hoping that I feel a bit more active tomorrow.  Aurora and Gideon have a doctor appointment in the afternoon and I have some laundry that needs to get done first thing in the morning (either that or I'm going to have to go to that appointment "commando", if you know what I mean).

I started reading a new book this evening.  It's called "SAHM I Am" by Meredith Efken.  I'm only 34 pages into it so far, but I think I'm going to like it.  It took a while to get used to the style of writing at first, the entire book is presented in the form of email correspondence between a bunch of women who belong to an online Mommies group; but now that I am used to it, I'm enjoying it very much.  I was all caught up on the books from my regular authors when I went to the library this past Friday, so I spent a few moments perusing the New Fiction shelves.  Occasionally I like to check out a new author to potentially add them to my regular reading list.  Although when new books come out I feel like I'm drowning in literature for a while until I get all caught up again.

This evening was a totally pleasant experience.  Around 6 pm I decided to take the boys out front to play in the grass.  The weather was perfect and the sun was at that angle that lets your body know it's time to get comfortable because bedtime is right around the corner.  The boys had a blast jumping and running in the grass and Aurora got adventurous in the out of doors for the very first time.  Normally she toddles around near my legs while I sit on the front steps, frequently asking me to hold her in my lap.  But today she took off down the concrete path as fast as her little legs would carry her.  She walked back and forth in front of the other houses chit chatting with herself and stopping once in a while to feel the grass next to the walkway.  For a little bit she even lurched along making growling noises and unwittingly doing an uncanny impression of a very short, very cute, Frankenstein monster.  Or as close as you can get to Frankenstein while wearing a little pink onsie with ruffles and bows on it.  Ethan, wearing his party hat, and Gideon ran back and forth along the path cheering and encouraging their little sister and stopping here and there to pick up rocks, bugs, and sticks.  After an hour I decided it was time to get back in the house to eat and get bed time going.  By that time we had already filled our quota of knee scrapes and other booboos so everyone contentedly went inside.  If only every evening could be so nice...
